Cradle to Cradle Certified ®

The international 'Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Standard' is a design philosophy that aims to create zero waste at the end of a product's life cycle. Product evaluation is done on 5 categories to ensure that products have a positive impact on both people and planet. 

Pioneer

Beddeleem started preparing internally to obtain these certificates in 2012. In 2016, we became the first manufacturer in the world to obtain the C2C Silver certificate for glazed partition systems. Recertification is done every 2 years and a continuous improvement process is required to achieve this.

Supply chain responsibility

The certification examines not only our company, but also the supply chain.

Beddeleem has already certified several products and aims to have even more products certified in the future, both by adapting existing products and by taking the principles into account when designing new products.

Recycled and recyclabe materials

Beddeleem is constantly striving to incorporate materials with a high recycled and renewable content.

Our partition systems are an excellent example of this: the materials used, such as wood, mineral wool, steel and aluminium, contain a high percentage of recycled content without compromising on quality or functionality.

However, when it comes to our glass partitions, certain technical limitations limit our ability to achieve the desired level of recycled or renewable content. These limitations are due to the specific properties of glass and current manufacturing processes. To meet stringent technical, aesthetic and safety standards, glass requires high quality raw materials, which currently limits the amount of recycled content.

For full and glazed systems, we work closely with partners who are committed to sustainability and circularity, particularly through recycling programmes and innovative production processes. As a result, we are able to design and manufacture high quality, sustainable products that meet the rigorous criteria of Cradle to Cradle certification. We are also actively investing in research and collaboration to increase the use of recycled glass and other materials in the future.

Thanks to our Cradle-to-Cradle® and PEFC certificates, Beddeleem contributes to the sustainability performance of buildings and helps building owners achieve credits for certificates such as LEED, WELL V2, GREEN STAR, DNGB System, BREEAM®.
